baskets in bed

An Easter Surprise

The last few years I have really tried to make the girls Easter mornings (and most holidays) as memorable as I can. You might remember the breakfast party in 2022 and the bicycle baskets for 2023. This year I had the idea to surprise them with breakfast in bed. When we are in a hotel, they think that room service is just the coolest thing ever. So I knew they’d love it. The tray could also serve as their basket. I was able to find two of the same vintage wicker bed trays on Ebay and gave them a fresh coat of paint.

In their baskets, I had Yeti bottles (that they’ve been wanting for a year), bath bombs they can paint themselves, a book, and a swimsuit and sunglasses for our upcoming summer vacation. I couldn’t resist the little Jellycat macaron bunny, Halston named her Pistachio (our favorite macaron flavor).

And as always, I get the first half planned but then life is so busy, so last minute I’m trying to figure out the presenation. It just looked kind of boring all thrown in the bed tray basket. So I started scavaging through my house. And then I remembered I had snatched up some butterflies and flowers my sister was getting rid of. This would be perfect for Spring. And I started arranging them on the basket and it really came to life, a whimsical little garden. I had to add a gold chocolate bunny peeking out of the garden.

I intentionally bought bed trays that had cup holders, however, none of my lidded cups fit in the holder. So I just put their macaron bunnies over the cup holder and made it work.

Easter morning was so fun, surprising them with pancakes in bed. They once again think that it’s more mom than giant stuffed bunny delivering the baskets. And I’m good with it. The Easter Bunny can’t take all the credit.
